Grief Unveiled (2023)
Grief Unveiled is a series of works that explores the human experience of grief and loss. Whilst also examining the body, conflict and memory with a close connection towards grief and how this can lead to accoutrements on the body. Grief is considerably not raised as an open topic in society, which this series of work challenges and uses it as a freely open issue to be discussed and photographed. I invited viewers to confront their experiences with grief by creating a sequel of questions that was asked to the models before the photoshoot commenced. The research behind these questions consisted of reading the books Loss and Bereavement by Payne Sheila and Photography trace and trauma by Margaret Iveresen. The questions become a vital aspect to this embodiment of work as it allows each individual to be shown. This grants every photograph to be diverse from the other, yet also similar due to composition, pose and vulnerability of the image corresponding to each other on purpose.
